WHO WE ARE

Kidmia is an advocate for the fatherless in Ethiopia. We lead the way in progressive models of indigenous orphan care in partnership with the local church, providing the basics of life we all long for: family, nutrition, education, health care, sustainability, hope. We both create new families through adoption and ensure that existing families have a chance to remain intact, not having to make the impossible and unjust decision of which children they can afford to keep.

Those who join in the mission with us actively sponsor kids, empower families, fund adoptions, involve their friends and churches, and spread the word over a strong cup of Ethiopian coffee.

OUR WORK

In Amharic, the language of Ethiopia, kidmia means priority. Our priority is the orphaned and vulnerable children of this rich and beautiful nation. We empower families to prevent kids from becoming orphans, we reunify orphaned children with extended family, and we facilitate local adoptions to provide an orphaned child with a forever family and a home.

family preservation

FAMILY PRESERVATION

We identify those families who are most at risk of being torn apart due to poverty, disease, or famine, and empower them to remain intact, preventing children from ever becoming orphans.

child reunification

CHILD REUNIFICATION

We provide children with holistic care at our Child Transition Center, while enabling family members to develop the means to care for them after being reunified.

adoption

LOCAL ADOPTION

Kidmia leads the way in creating a culture of indigenous adoption across Ethiopia and facilitates local adoptions for Ethiopian families.
